Biography of Paolo Virgolini
Born in Palmanova (UD) in 1978, he graduated from Milan Polytechnic in 2003, with a thesis on lighting in Milanese parks, a project that won the MINI-BMW AWARD “The future of the city: slow or fast”. He went on to specialise in yacht design and, after a period working in the Riva shipyard in Sarnico, the Brianza-based shipyard Sogica asked him to design the exteriors and interiors of a new craft, creating Sogica Openbridge 55’, a boat that won the Millennium Yacht Design Award (MYDA) in 2007. Later he founded the Virgolini & Musci Design studio with Francesca Musci, with whom he designed Titanium 40’, a boat that would go on to win the MYDA in 2008. He currently works with various Italian shipyards including Tullio Abbate and Marsea.
