The 8th of November 2006 Alcantara® LAB launched Alcantara® Every Day Design Contest as a first dialogue with those who give shape to ideas.

With this project Alcantara® had the chance to be heard about in many different languages and be experienced in still unexplored places: at home, in the office, during the leisure time and the mobility. Alcantara® wanted to experience a new dimension, exploiting the spaces and places of daily life thanks to unique project-designing, a synthesis of personal perceptions and trials.

192 projects took part of the Contest, ended the 5th of February 2007. All of them interpreted Alcantara® as an extremely contemporary material, describing its uniqueness also by the advantages of its use which are an extraordinary combination of sensoriality, aesthetics and functionality.

All participants, coming from various countries and with 31 years of medium age, had been asked to propose ideas that reflect Alcantara® values and its uniqueness: original and innovative projects with the aim to realize beautiful and elegant, resistant and easy care objects that describe Alcantara® through different situations and multiple languages.

50 selected projects had been displayed during Milan Furniture Fair in the heart of Zona Tortona. In the prestigious location of Daylight studio, part of "That's Design" area, Alcantara® LAB promoted and gave visibility to these young designers.

The prize-giving ceremony took place April the 19th.
